An expedition to the Erg Chebbi Desert is a brief sojourn into Morocco’s sandy wilds, a 4-day road trip from Marrakech to Merzouga that offers thrills beyond measure. Departure in the morning by vehicle from Marrakech towards the High Atlas and the Tichka pass (2260 m). Then, you head towards the beautiful site of the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou via the old caravan route.
Lunch and visit to this jewel classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. You continue your route towards the Gorges de Dades and the “valley of roses”, via Ouarzazate and the Skoura palm grove. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After a walk in the gorges you leave for the south and the desert. You stop at the Todgha Gorges for a visit and lunch there, then departure towards Erfoud and Rissani.
Then you will continue the road to reach Merzouga. There, you are invited to take a camel ride before admiring the sunset over the dunes and tasting traditional mint tea. Dinner around a campfire, accompanied by nomad songs. Night at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise. Then breakfast and departure to cross Tafilalet and the mineral immensity of the Bougafer massif in order to reach Alnif and Tazzarine.
After lunch, you continue your journey to N’kob, then through the superb Draa valley to arrive at the Agdz oasis. Dinner and overnight in a guest house in the palm grove.
Morning departure towards Marrakech via the Anti-Atlas “black mountain” to Ouarzazate then towards Marrakech via the Tichka pass.
